Lippy Films Ltd is a company of creative film and distribution media associates founded in 2003 by Dave Tomalin. The company is rooted on his passion for filmmaking, enthusiasm for people and his 25 years experience as a creative producer and social entrepreneur.

The company is based on the values of shared experience, diversity, self-expression and inclusion; plus a commitment to producing films and media that seek to affect change.

Lippy Films has a reputation for producing high quality collaborative social documentaries, dramas and digital media that bring stories from societies margins into the mainstream. Lippy Films also produced collaborative film projects, educational films that explore topical issues involving young people and music videos, in addition to communication media for a range of production partners across all sectors.

The company also provides specialist services and consultancy in creative development, project planningand management, production financing and creative collaboration.

Lippy Films is proud to have played a central role in a breadth of creative partnerships across the UK. Production partnerships have enabled 1000's of people to produce 100's of films through which they have shared their lives, experiences and ideas with local, regional, national and international audiences.

Production partners have included young peoples services, community projects, criminal justice agencies, film production companies, social and community media organisations, leading arts establishments and festivals, social justice and social welfare organisations, film agencies, regional development agencies, plus television and online broadcasters.

Our production studio in West Yorkshire is geared for the production of digital video and interactive media. In addition to high quality digital video cameras, sound recording and green screen equipment we also have a number of editing and imaging solutions. We also provide digital effects and graphic services.

Development Management

Lippy is an experienced development producer with an extensive record of success of taking projects from the drawing board to production. We collaborate with partners to develop creative direction; stories, treatments and scripts; project briefs, finance and funds.

Project & Production Management

We manage all aspects of production including contracting, health and safety, managing risk and scheduling.

Distribution Management

Lippy provides distribution services that take films directly to audiences. We collaborate to produce screening events and submissions to local, regional, national and international film festivals and online TV channels. We also work with partners to produce digital learning resources to accompany films.

Lippy Associates uses Dave Tomalins experience and associate networks to devise and deliver bespoke learning and personal development solutions for both individuals and groups who are committed to having a positive social impact. We don't deliver pre-designed packages or programmes but do provide frameworks for experiential learning underpinned by the belief that everyone has skills, knowledge and experiences that benefit us all from being shared.

Dave's experience has been learnt largely through the university of life (or hard knocks in some cases); some has been shown and modelled by academics, leaders, mentors, coaches and a diverse range of professionals; and much of it by the 1000's of people Dave has worked with through the course of his work as a social filmmaker and entrepreneur. He has practical experience in areas including organisational and social development, collaborative process, creative enhancement in the workplace, social solution building, social consultation and engagement, educational and social enquiry, governance, leadership, motivation building, visioning and entrepreneurial growth.

Dave has developed a number of businesses that aim to have a social impact; he has also run charitable companies and produced 100's of projects within most social sectors. Dave is particularly motivated by initiatives with young people and those living with multiple barriers to engagement within civil society. His work as a managing Director, Chair and facilitator across a range of organisational structures has enabled him to develop working relationships with highly talented and experienced 'associates' across social sectors, all of which bring proven expertise into the Lippy Associates offer. Dave is also a graduate of the European Unions Audio Visual Entrepreneurs programme and the National Arts Fundraising School; he is a learning guide for civic leaders through the Common Purpose network; he is an associate team member within Love Enterprise Ltd and Lippy Futures (entrepreneur development with socially marginalised people) and is a company Director of Lippy Films & Creative Media Ltd, Lippy People CIC and the Common Cause Foundation.
